He married Marie Jeanice Speckmann. Marie was born December 29, 1919. Marie is the daughter of Fred Frederick Wilhelm Speckmann and Mattie Belle Haight.

James William Combs and Marie Jeanice Speckmann had the following children:

2 i. Jacqueline Jean² Combs was born April 6, 1940. She married George Willard Shangle Jr. George was born May 27, 1936. (See George Willard Shangle Jr. for the continuation of this line.)

3 ii. Peggy Jane Combs was born June 19, 1941. She married Ronald Ray Donahue. Ronald was born December 27, 1939. (See Ronald Ray Donahue for the continuation of this line.)

+ 4 iii. James Williams Combs Jr. was born July 13, 1945.

5 iv. Dorothy June Combs was born Jule 8, 1946. She married Larry Segroves. Larry was born June 8, 1948. (See Larry Segroves for the continuation of this line.)

6 v. Johnny Combs was born 1963. Johnny died 1963 at less than one year of age.
