8. August² Klingenberg (Henry¹) was born in Germany October 1871.

He married twice. He married Emma Blaske in Illinois, abt 1897. Emma was born in Illinois November 1876. He married Mary Ann Retterer in Chicago, Cook, IL, August 27, 1902. Mary was born in Cary, Illinois September 21, 1879. Mary was the daughter of George Retterer and Anna Mary Whaley. According to the June 14, 1900 Barrington Township, Illinois census, August Klingenberg was a farmer and had been married about 3 years to Emma Blaske. They had two daughters, Martha born in June 1898 and Emma born in May 1900 both in Illinois. Also living with August and Emma was Carl Froeling age 11, a nephew born in May 1884. In the 1910 census, August Klingenberg stated he emigrated to the United States in 1884, was naturalized, and was a laborer in a railroad freight house. The 1910 census also shows August was now married to "Mary" who was born in Illinois. The IGI (International Genealogical Index) says August Klingenberg married Mary Retterer August 27, 1902 in Chicago. The 1910 census states August and Mary had three boys: Edward, Herman, and Freddie. Other records show Carl was born to August and Mary in 1900 after the census was taken.

August Klingenberg and Emma Blaske had the following children:

9 i. Martha³ Klingenberg was born in Illinois June 22, 1898. Martha died November 9, 1988 in Woodstock, IL, at 90 years of age. Her body was interred November 12, 1988 in Barrington, IL, St. Pauls Cemetery. She married Heinrich (Henry) Reimer in Elgin, IL, October 18, 1915. Heinrich was born in Hanover Township, IL November 18, 1879. Heinrich was the son of Joachim (Jacob) Reimer and Rieke Schlieff. Heinrich died 1956 in Crystal Lake, IL, at 76 years of age. His body was interred 1956 in Barrington, IL, St. Pauls Cemetery. (See Heinrich (Henry) Reimer for the continuation of this line.)

10 ii. Emma Klingenberg was born in Illinois May 1900.

August Klingenberg and Mary Ann Retterer had the following children:

+ 11 iii. Edward Klingenberg was born June 15, 1903.

+ 12 iv. Herman H. Klingenberg was born May 22, 1904.

13 v. Fred (Fritz) Klingenberg was born in Illinois March 22, 1907. Fred died February 1987 in McHenry, Illinois, at 79 years of age.

+ 14 vi. Carl Klingenberg was born November 25, 1910.
