2. Michael Paul2 Vanderford (Paul1) was born in Dermont, Flanders (Belgium) 1605-1615. Michael died September 20, 1692 in Talbot County, MD, at 87 years of age.

He married Marretje Joris (Maria) Rapalje in New York, November 18, 1640. Marretje was born in Manhattan, New York March 11, 1627. Marretje was the daughter of Joris (George) Jansen Rapalje and Catalyntje Jeronomus Trico. Marretje died September 11, 1689 in Long Island, New York, at 62 years of age. Notes from Genevieve Mason, Temple, Texas (b. April 10, 1923 - d. March 6, 1989) state the Vanderford name originated as "Vander Voort". She stated Michael Paul's father was Artus Vander Voort III, whose father was Artus Vander Voort, Jr., whose father was the original Artus Vander Voort, who was a shepherd and clothmaker in Tuernhout, Belgium.

Michael married Maria Rapalje, who had been living in New Amsterdam (Manhattan) since her birth there in 1627. He received a patent for land on Manhattan Island in 1647 and owned various lots until around 1658, when he relocated his family to the Wallabout section of Brooklyn. Due to Indian uprisings and the non-availability of land, Michael moved his family to Maryland in 1660 when settlement land was made available.

Michael Paul Vanderford and Marretje Joris (Maria) Rapalje had the following child:
