1. Louis¹ Metzger was born in Budapest, Hungary August 29, 1897. Louis died June 3, 1973 in Carpentersville, IL, at 75 years of age. His body was interred June 5, 1973 in Elgin, Illinois, Lake Street Memorial Park.

He married Ruth Elizabeth DuFree in Dundee, Kane County, IL, August 31, 1918. Ruth was born in Elgin, IL August 23, 1898. Ruth was the daughter of William Henry DuFree (Jr.) and Bertha "Bessie" Lorenz. Ruth died April 13, 1981 in Elgin, IL, at 82 years of age.

Louis Metzger and Ruth Elizabeth DuFree had the following children:

2 i. William² Metzger. He married Audrey.

3 ii. Clayton Metzger was born June 26, 1919. Clayton died June 1985 in Carpentersville, IL, at 65 years of age.

4 iii. Elaine R. Metzger was born in Elgin, IL April 14, 1921. Elaine died August 11, 2007 in Elgin, IL, at 86 years of age. She married Grover Elliott in Elgin, IL, March 17, 1956. Grover was born in Vincennes, IN August 8, 1919. Grover died February 9, 2008 in Elgin, IL, at 88 years of age. (See Grover Elliott for the continuation of this line.)
