3. John Francis² Overmire (Peter¹) was born in Sandusky County, Ohio November 25, 1840. John died March 19, 1892 in Tama County, Iowa, at 51 years of age.

He married Emma Ann (Amy) Bruner in Indiana, July 4, 1877. Emma was born in Ohio August 1845. Emma was the daughter of Jacob J. (JJ) Bruner and Catherine Luce. Emma died August 15, 1925 in San Gabriel, California, at 80 years of age. John and Emma moved to Tama County, Iowa after marriage. John is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.

John Francis Overmire and Emma Ann (Amy) Bruner had the following children:

7 i. Edith Mary³ Overmire was born January 1878. Edith died September 13, 1958 in Kimball, Stearns County, Minnesota, at 80 years of age. She married Thomas Alex Whannel in Cedar County, Iowa, June 1, 1905. Thomas died 1971 in Minnesota. Both Thomas and Edith are buried in St. Paul, Minnesota.

8 ii. Elma O. Overmire was born July 19, 1881. Elma died March 3, 1966 in Los Angeles County, California, at 84 years of age. She married Ernest L. Bridge. Ernest was born in Cary, Illinois November 7, 1852. Ernest died July 26, 1952 in Los Angeles County, California, at 99 years of age. Elma is buried in the San Gabriel Cemetery.
